Join Us

• Joining the BFHS gives you access to a network of like minded individuals with whom to share your research and family history problems. Currently we have 90+ members ranging from 'seasoned hunters' to those who are just embarking on their journeys.
  
• When you join you are sent an invitation to the Members' Area of this website where you can discuss any matters Blanc/shard and access our indexes of over 40,000 references to Blanc/shard individuals.
  
• Each year we organise a meeting where members can meet 'face to face'. The agenda includes a variety of Blanc/shard topics and occasionally a speaker on a subject of wider family history interest. The location of this meeting rotates around various UK regions.
  
• In common with many one name based family history societies we are currently very interested in the topic of DNA testing. The BFHS is significantly subsiding the cost of such testing, subject to certain criteria being met.
  
• Our archive contains a large number of Blanc/shard family trees which new members may find themselves linked to or may be able to 'eliminate from their enquiries'!
  
• Finally, members receive our journal AdversariA, 3 or 4 times a year.

In the context of the above benefits, the cost of membership is very modest. Current membership rates are:

Individual £10
Couple £13
Overseas Individual £15/US$22 *
Overseas Couple £17/US$27 *

(Joint memberships receive only one copy of the journal, AdversariA)

Subscriptions are renewable on 1 May each year. However, for members who join between 1 January and 1 April, the initial subscription remains valid until the following 30th April.
